Why is Becta launching the National School Quiz?
National School Quiz has the potential to set young minds alight with a thirst for knowledge. Having seen how computer games can enthuse children, using similar technology to expand a child’s knowledge of the curriculum in a fun and interactive way is a great way to increase learner attainment.
The quiz has been developed in partnership with a number of public and private sector organisations. Some of our leading museums and charities are sponsoring the themed areas and all questions have been co-developed with the relevant subject association for each theme.
The quiz will also encourage schools to commit to the Next Generation Learning Charter (http://www.nextgenerationlearning.org.uk/At-School/Charter-Schools/)
The objectives of the National School Quiz are as follows:
- To demonstrate the effective use of technology within schools on a national level
- To engage learners aged 8-9 years in technology within the classroom
- To encourage schools to sign up to and proceed through the Next Generation Learning Charter
- To encourage schools & parents to use their Learning Platform
