Case Study: Key Stage 3 MFL

Using technology to supplement modern foreign language lessons means learners can:
• get access to online resources in the target foreign language
• hear and see native speakers of the language
• access information presented in a fun way using a range of media e.g. software producing photo comic-type documents
• communicate easily with learners in schools in other countries.

Online communities
Allow learners to work in partnership with other students internationally, share resources they create and give feedback to others, providing first-hand experience of other cultures and languages.

How technology is used in school:
• learners practise vocabulary relating to everyday life
• They work in small groups to describe what they do everyday and translate it into the target language
• They develop phrases that describe what they do and record them digitally
• They role play scenes where they use these phrases in context
• They record their role play using a digital camera
• They produce a photo comic that describes ‘My day at school’
• They use the eLanguages  website to upload their photo comic and share it with other learners around the world
