Deputy headteacher - Lesley

Tell us a little about yourself

Lesley has been Deputy Head at Ayloff for 4 years and joined the staff as Vicki became Headteacher. Lesley is now the Deputy Head of the new school.  It is her role to support the smooth running of the school.  She is assessment leader and manages staff professional development.  She also gets to pick up any subject leadership roles as staff leave, until others can take on these roles on a more permanent basis.  Currently she is ICT leader, although much of the work is shared amongst the ICT development team.

Do you think Next Generation Learning is a good thing for learners and why?

Great as it drive the ICT agenda forward into the future.  It ensures we keep abreast of current and potential developments.  For us it has pulled staff together by having a shared goal and to view learners as so much more than just pupils.

Are there any challenges that you anticipate?

Key challenge will be funding as ICT costs can be infinite.  Time is also an issue as we look to include a wider range of learners such as parents, members of the community, etc in school life.

What are your initial thoughts about being involved in the video diary?
This is a very exciting project that has captured both schools for posterity as they will cease to exist.  It has been great for tracking the developing progress of the school.  It was fairly nerve-wracking initially, being filmed, but the end product is so positive that I am thrilled to have been part of it.
