Tell us a little about yourself
I have been working as a Teaching Assistant for 6 year, working mainly with pupils in years 3 and 4. During my last performance management meeting I stated an interest in improving my ICT skills and was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to attend various courses. This year I have been given the role of supporting the teachers when they use the Apple Mac laptops, which I am really enjoying.
Do you think Next Generation Learning is a good thing for learners and why?
I think the Next Generation Learning website is useful for teachers, pupils and parents. It has excellent links to educational websites that can be used by teachers and pupils. It also keeps parents informed of the various types of technologies being used in schools today.
What is your role in helping Elm Park on their journey?
My role is to assist teachers when using the Apple Mac Laptops. Hopefully with the experience I have gained by constantly using these laptops, I can give the teachers the confidence to try different programmes. This in turn will help to promote a more creative style of teaching which I am sure the children will enjoy.
What are your initial thoughts about being involved in the video diary?
Although I was a little apprehensive at first, I found the film crew very supportive and actually enjoyed the experience. I think it will be interesting to see not only the journey that the school makes, but also my own.
