Want to enjoy learning more and get better results? You can make it happen when you get on board with the Next Generation Learning campaign.
That’s what it’s all about – making sure more schools, colleges and learning providers use technology to its full potential – so you have fun learning and get the qualifications and skills you need to succeed.
Use the checklist to find out if your school, college or learning provider is making the most of technology.
Is your learning provider already using technology in innovative or exciting ways to improve the way you learn? If so, make sure you nominate them for a Next Generation Learning Award.
“Our original vision was to have technology in every classroom and we have achieved that,” says Gloucestershire College principal Greg Smith.
Staff and students are enthusiastically embracing technology at the college, which has over 2,000 computers and around 250 interactive whiteboards.
The technology revolution on site has made students more confident self-driven learners.
“This really is the future. Half my students have a whole range of internet and other access devices. Learning should take place wherever the students happen to be.”
1 Is technology a natural part of your course? How often are things like computers and interactive whiteboards used?
2 Make keeping in touch easier – find out how you can keep in contact with your school, college or learning provider over the internet, by text or email.
3 Make it easier to learn away from class – can you access learning materials and course work easily and securely over the internet?
4 Get up to speed with computers and technology yourself so you can take full advantage of new ways to learn. Local libraries, internet cafes, community centres and UK online centres can all help.
