Getting involved

How can technology make it easier for you to get involved?

Being involved in your child’s education has its benefits. There’s evidence that shows where parents are involved, children and young people do better.

Technology holds the key to widening your involvement in your child’s education, making it much easier for you to communicate with their school, college or learning provider and vice versa, so that keeping in touch is secure and just as easy as checking your bank account online.

There are lots of ways of doing it – through emails, text messages and their website. It works the other way too – how easy would it be to let them know your child is ill using email or a simple text message?

Schools, colleges and learning providers are updating their electronic systems and processes so this new age of ‘school-to-parent’ communication works well. Secondary schools are already moving towards providing parents with information at the touch of a button, when and where they want it, and primary schools are not far behind.
