When parents and teachers work together, it can make a real difference to how well children and young people of all abilities learn. There are plenty of ways you can get more involved in helping your child to learn.
Over two million school age learners don’t have access to the internet at home. The Home Access Programme – a government initiative – will change this by increasing the availability of technology in homes.
More children will be able to learn outside of class hours, creating more choice in how, where and when they learn, so they’re likely to perform better.
In turn, schools, colleges and learning providers will be able to involve you in your child’s education.
There’s a lot you can do too. School websites often come with details about what your child is learning and they’re easy to tap into.
Check out whether there’s school equipment you can borrow, for example laptops or digital cameras, so you and your child can learn – and play – together!
You could even brush up on your own computer skills. Local libraries, community centres and UK online centres all offer courses for parents.
